How do events and local businesses work together in and outside the Dust Bowl Entertainment District?
Eloy City Work Session
Date: March 1, 2021
A good topic of conversation, especially for the citizens of Eloy who are interested in being entrepreneurs is how they would participate in doing business in and outside the Dust Bowl Entertainment District. This was a question asked by Council Member Sara Curtis during one of the regular work sessions.
Councilwoman Sara Curtis
Quick question about the concept. The concept is based on basically, you’ll have events there. And then there’s this vendor on the side, we go to the outside and things will go to the inside. Would those vendors be there all the time and it’s open to the public? Or they only will be there when there’s events? I’m just a bit confused on that, how the concept works. And you can answer that quickly.
Schwann Hanns
We’re trying to keep it open for business hours right now. Probably 8 to 9 or something like that. Or 9 to 9, like the malls. If there is a need for it to be open for 24 hours, they can close the Dust Bowl and they can serve from the outside.
Councilwoman Sara Curtis
So, Grandma’s cookies there on slot number one. And you know, she’s there from 8 to 5 or whatever. What happens when there's a wedding or like an event in there , is she closed down or she only goes to the outside window.
Schwann Hanns
They can either, depending on the event if it’s a corporate event or normal events. There are people outside and out. When it is a wedding or something and they want the whole building or exclusive, they will shut this part down and they can sell outside.
Councilwoman Sara Curtis
Okay, so same with like little arcade and kids can come in and use it. But if there’s an event, it shut down and they can’t come in and use it.
Schwann Hanns
Correct. We can do that. We can either have a door outside for the arcade. So this is the concept, when we get there, we can integrate all of those listening to the city council and the people of Eloy. We can even have a separate door for the arcade. And just shut it down and separate it from the building. But we are not really focusing on that. So, the arcade is an addition to the building.
