Alternative C: Demolish the Dustbowl

Downtown Advisory Commission Meeting

Date: June 19, 2019


The third option presented during the Downtown Advisory Commission Meeting last June 2019 was to demolish the Dustbowl. Below are the highlights of this option:  


  1. The site will be ready for new development.
  2. The blighting influences at an important corner will be removed.
  3. A portion of the Public will be pleased that the building has been demolished.


While these are the negative items pointed out during the meeting: 


  1. Demolition will be costly-$125,000+?
  2.  A portion of the Public will be very disappointed or even agitated that a piece of the City’s history has been permanently removed.
  3.  A portion of the Public will not be pleased that the dilapidated building has been retained
